Philosophy Speaker Series, 16 September: Lightning Talks!
By Philosophy department, McMaster University
Free Event for Alumni, Faculty, Future Students, Graduate Students, International Students, Postdoctoral Students, Researchers, Staff, Undergraduate Students
Overview
The Philosophy speaker series committee is very excited to announce that our first colloquium event will take place this Friday 16 September in KTH B124 from 3:30pm-5pm. However, we are doing something a little different this time – lightning talks!
Speakers
What this means is that six of our faculty will each have a 15min slot (likely 10min talk, 5min Q&A, but the division is up to them) to tell us something about their research.
Our line-up is as follows:
1. Megan Stotts, “A Behavioral Approach to Social Institutions”
2. Allauren Samantha Forbes, “Scudéry’s Portraits: Gender, agency, and genre”
3. Alice Pinheiro Walla, TBD
4. Johannes Steizinger, “Canonization and Gender: Images of Goethe in Friedrich Nietzsche and Hedwig Dohm”
5. Stefan Sciaraffa, TBD
6. Barry Allen, “All Our Relations: Indigenous Themes for Anthropocene Philosophy”
It is going to be a wonderful and philosophically rich afternoon – looking forward to seeing you all there!
