Overview
Join us on Saturday, May 11th from 10:00AM to 3:00PM for our May@Mac showcase. You’ll have a chance to tour our facilities, speak with students, staff, and faculty, attend an information session and learn everything that you need to know about studying at McMaster University.
Here’s an overview of some of our events:
H_manities – a Brighter World Needs U (11:00 & 1:00 in LRW Concert Hall)
Imagine yourself here. Join us to discover what it’s like to be a Humanities student at McMaster. Learn about our programs, our close-knit community and why we say, “In Humanities, the possibilities are endless!”
Humanities Faculty Showcase – 10:00-3:00 in the LRW lobby
Information booths for all programs. Meet our student ambassadors, professors, representatives from our Humanities society and McMaster’s English Language Diploma (MELD). Our student experience team, who’s here to help you navigate Mac on every step of your academic journey, can chat with you about academic requirements, career supports, next steps and international exchange programs.
Lyons Family Studio Open House – 11:00-2:00 in the Lyons Family Studio, first floor of LRW
A state-of-the-art, professional theatre space, the Lyons Family Studio features advanced lighting, digital sound and projection capabilities within a flexible space that allows for a wide range of seating options. It provides our students the ultimate hands-on experience to showcase their performance and technical skills.
Media Arts Lab Tours – 11:00, 1:00 and 2:00 tours will leave from the Communication Studies/Media Arts booth in LRW. Participants will walk together to the Lab located at TSH 202b.
Exclusive to McMaster Media Arts and Communication Studies students, the Anne and Neil MacArthur Humanities Multimedia Wing offers 24/7 access to professional-level computers, with industry-standard software and equipment to create and edit video, audio and digital content, and animate 3D and 2D objects.
iArts (Integrated Arts) Fitzhenry Studios, Atrium Open House & Tour – Open house (all day). A formal tour will take place at 1:00
Tour begins in LRW lobby McMaster’s new iArts (Integrated Arts) BFA and BA programs allow you to direct your path wherever your creativity takes you – from acting, to painting, to sculpture, to creating digital videos and beyond. Opened in 2015, the Fitzhenry Studios and Atrium offer a state-of-the-art presentation and gallery space, in addition to art studios for a variety of fine art disciplines.
Music: Concert Hall Open House – 11:00-2:00 in the Concert Hall on the first floor of LRW
Our concert hall features exceptional acoustics and professional facilities and has hosted internationally renowned soloists and performing arts groups. It is the home of McMaster’s choirs, orchestras, concert band and percussion ensemble.
